The Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport has expressed its satisfaction with regard to Equens’ Advisory Report ‘ICT-BEVEILIGING in de zorg’ (ICT SECURITY in the healthcare sector). The report provides an insight into the current level of security of the Electronic Patient Record (EPD) and measures that can be taken to ensure that a possible backlog can be cleared, guaranteed and checked. On 24 November, Minister Hoogervorst submitted the report to the Lower House of the Dutch Parliament.

The Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport has expressed its satisfaction with the quality of the report. Taking into account possible gaps in the security policy is of the utmost importance in ensuring silent implementation of a national EPD.

Equens’ Risk Consultancy has been able to facilitate easy conversion of payment transactions for the healthcare sector. It transpired that there were many similarities. E.M. Maat, head of the ICT programme for the healthcare sector, stated the following with regard to the choice for Equens: “Joining forces with a party from the Dutch payments industry with a reputation for its security expertise was a logical step for us. Security awareness and high-quality security are of great importance within both the healthcare sector and the payments industry.”

For Equens, it was a special project that deviated from the usual assignments within the Dutch payments industry. It gave us a taste of working with new customers. From now on, Equens will become increasingly involved with parties outside the Dutch banking industry. As a European payment processor, Equens will conduct an increasing amount of business with foreign parties in payment transactions.
