On Friday 4 May, Equens successfully processed the first online V PAY transaction in the Netherlands. V PAY is a functionality with which debit card transactions can be conducted in the Netherlands and abroad. Thus, it is an attractive alternative (in addition to Maestro from MasterCard) for Dutch banks, consumers and merchants.
Visa developed V PAY especially for the European market. In the Netherlands, Visa is working with Equens on the production of V PAY cards and the processing of V PAY transactions.
Andy Makkinje, Vice President International Cards at Equens: "In the framework of the European guidelines, obviously Equens wants to be able to process all European brands. V PAY is a good example of this. Good collaboration with the (inter)national payment schemes and accurate distribution of the activities contribute to the creation of a highly developed European payments market. Thus, processing the first online V PAY transaction is a milestone for Equens. We want to thank Visa and terminal supplier CCV for the collaboration and the great result."
