On 15 January 2007 KPMG certified the Type II SAS 70 report for Equens Nederland. This report officially states that Equens Nederland complies with the described control measures with regard to reliability, confidentiality and availability. Equens is one of the first payment processors in Europe to have a SAS 70 Type II certification.
In 2006 a SAS 70 Type I report was granted, expressing that all the necessary internal control measures were in place to safeguard the required quality level. With this new Type II certification, we have actually proven to live up to the defined quality requirements. In other words, Equens complies.
The scope of the report covers the processing chain for payments (clearing & settlement) and domestic debit cards (PIN processing). The set of standards described in the SAS 70 report is based on international standards such as COSO and COBIT.
Our Clearing & Settlement System (CSS) already complied with the ECB standards for system-critical retail payment systems, covering ten Core Principles that relate to all aspects of an organisation: from security and management efficiency to control of financial risks and legal matters.
We aim to acquire a SAS 70 Type II report each year, thus assuring our clients of continuous high-quality services.
