Matthias has more than 15 years project management and payments expertise. He started 1996 at IDS Scheer AG in Germany, a leading company for process consulting and IT solutions for several industries. After 5 years working here as project manager amongst others for the banking sector he joint Dresdner Bank in Luxembourg as senior architect. Thereafter, he joint 2003 Transaktionsinstitut für Zahlungsverkehrsdienstleistungen AG (TAI), the predecessor of Equens. In his role of senior project manager he gained extensive experiences in the payments area. During the last years he headed the entire introduction of SEPA in Equens as SEPA Payments Programme Manager.

Dr Michael Salmony is an internationally recognised leader on business innovations especially in the internet and financial services space. He represents national geographies, banking consortia and international industry sectors for example within the European Commission and the EPC/European Payments Council. Recently he managed, at the Board of Directors/Holding level, the post-merger integration between previously national organisations to yield the first and leading pan-European full-service payment service provider Equens which now processes 1.5 times the gross domestic product of Europe per year. Previous positions include Director Business Development of leading national central bank (Bank of the Year 2005) and Assistant General Manager of its new payments subdivision (Best Innovator 2004). Before entering the world of finance he helped transform many industries through diverse international managerial roles at IBM for 20 years at the IBM Board of Directors as IBM's Director of Market Development Media and Communications Technologies (i.e. the transformation of all industries through eCommerce/Internet/multimedia technologies - including the transformation of IBM itself). Born 1956, he was educated at Cambridge University.

Before his appointment as Chairman in 2007, Michael held the position as Deputy Chairman. He has been spokesman of the Board of Directors of Transaktionsinstitut für Zahlungsverkehrsdienstleistungen AG (TAI) since July 2003. Prior to his appointment at TAI in 2003 he was a director of DZ BANK AG (Deutsche Zentral-Genossenschaftsbank), where he headed the payments department. During his career Michael has gained extensive experience in payments. In 1985 he became head of the electronic payments department at the then "Genossenschaftliche Zentralbank" or GZB-Bank (cooperative central bank). Since then he has headed increasingly large and complex payment divisions formed by mergers in the German banking world. Steinbach is a member of many significant national and international payment committees.

Michel has more than 20 years corporate banking and payment expertise. He started at NMB Bank (now ING) and specialized in structured finance. After that, he worked at Bank of Tokyo in corporate banking. Later, he worked at KBC bank, also in the corporate banking area. Thereafter, he joined CMG (now Logica) as senior banking business consultant. He worked at CMG for 12,5 years in different senior roles, heading the Banking Business Consulting unit, but also in commercial roles representing Logica as Global Account Director in the Financial market. He joined Equens in March 2008 as division manager and heads the Market Management center as of January 2009.
