Traditionally, December is the month where Equens processes millions of transactions. The St. Nicholas shopping, and then later the Christmas gifts and food purchases, lead to new peaks and records every year.
Traditionally, December is the month where Equens processes millions of transactions. The St. Nicholas shopping, and then later the Christmas gifts and food purchases, lead to new peaks and records every year. The Saturday before St. Nicholas (28 November 2009), Equens processed 9,052,973 electronic POS (Point of Sale) transactions (debit and credit) for the Dutch market, compared to 8,588,109 transactions in 2008 - an increase of 5.4 %. At the peak moment, Equens processed 358 transactions per second (TPS), compared to 332 last year.
The highest record ever was achieved last year on 24 December, when Equens processed almost 9.8 million transactions and 378 TPS in one day. We expect the records to be broken again this year, also on 24 December.
