Successful exchange of SEPA Direct Debits between Banca d'Italia/ICBPI and Equens
06-07-2010
After an extensive period of cooperation, Banca d'Italia/ICBPI and Equens are proud to announce that they have successfully exchanged SEPA Direct Debits (SDD). For this purpose, an Inter-CSM connection has been established between Equens’ CSM and the CSM operated by Banca d’Italia and ICBPI.
As a result, SEPA Direct Debits have been exchanged, cleared and settled between the companies. The link is based on the solid and proven EACHA Interoperability Framework, and benefits clients of both Equens and ICBPI by providing them with efficient and secure reach for their SEPA Direct Debits. Equens, Banca d’Italia and ICBPI have also successfully been operating an Inter-CSM connection for SEPA Credit Transfers (SCT) since April 2008.
It is the first time that Inter-CSM payments have been processed entirely on Equens' payment platform. Because Equens and Banca d'Italia/ICBPI now both use this single platform, there are no other processing parties involved. Settlement is performed using TARGET2 (Eurosystem) and BI-COMP (Banca d'Italia).
Equens is a frontrunner when it comes to CSM links. We currently have seven links for SCT and two for SDD, based on the EACHA Interoperability Framework. Equens is still working on the extension of its SEPA network and is currently in discussion with a number of CSMs with a view to creating more connections in the near future.
