First SCT payments processed between KIR and Equens

23-11-2010

Utrecht, Tuesday 23 November 2010, after a period of efficient and pleasant cooperation, the Polish ACH, KIR S.A. and Equens SE implemented a bilateral link for exchanging SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT) payments.

This new inter-CSM connection with KIR is another step to establish interoperability between European CSMs based on the EACHA Interoperability Framework. For more information visit the EACHA website.

This connection with KIR, which was pre-announced earlier this year, is an important step for Equens in expanding its payment network in Poland, but also for Polish banks. Yesterday the two companies successfully exchanged the first SEPA payments on behalf of their respective clients. This landmark provides the banks of both communities with a fast, cost-optimal and low-risk method of achieving reach with the banks of the other community and enables the simple and effective exchange of SEPA payments.

For Equens this is the seventh inter-CSM connection that has gone live based on the EACHA Interoperability standards for SCT. Equens is already connected to Iberpay (Spain), ICBPI/Banca d'Italia  (Italy), DIAS (Greece), OeNB (Austria), SECB (Switzerland) and VocaLink (UK). In addition to these links on mutually agreed basis Equens has a connection with EBA Clearing. This strategy enables Equens to provide full reach throughout SEPA.
