PaySquare enables e-commerce payments in 30 currencies

PaySquare and Global Blue have expanded their Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) offering for on-location payments to include online payments (e-DCC). As a result, webshops in the Netherlands can now allow customers living outside the eurozone to pay in their own currency using MasterCard or Visa. The two parties are offering this service jointly, and are its first provider on the Dutch market.

The service is available for 30 different currencies, including the American dollar, the British pound and the Japanese yen. On the payment page of payment service provider Ogone, customers can opt to pay for a product in their own currency. This way, the cardholder sees the exact amount they are spending, without being affected by conversion rates. The merchant then simply receives the amount in euros and receives an attractive commission for each non-euro transaction.

Petra Gerla, CEO of PaySquare: “Consumers are increasingly buying their products online, so country borders are obviously no longer an issue. Nevertheless, it has emerged that many consumers are more inclined to make a purchase if they are able to pay in their own currency. Dynamic Currency Conversion lowers the threshold between consumers living outside the eurozone and webshops based in the Netherlands. As a result, the webshops are enjoying an increase in their sales markets.”
