Evolution from a European network into a global transaction service

While focusing on simple, universal and cost-efficient payment services, we retain a strong European heritage with a commitment to excellence and client services.

Equens was established as Europe’s first pan-European payment processor in 2006. This followed the merger of Europe’s two largest payment processors: the Dutch Interpay Nederland B.V., and the German Transaktionsinstitut für Zahlungsverkehrsdienstleistungen AG.

Initially operating as a holding company, Equens SE was formed in July 2008 as Europe’s first Societas Europaea payment processor. The company extended its geographical coverage with the formation of Equens Italia in September 2008, a 50:50 joint venture with Italy’s ICBPI Group. In 2011, Equens Italia will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Equens SE. This will consolidate our position as the leading full service provider in the eurozone.

With payment services driven by market penetration, geographical reach and economies of scale, we are well positioned to leverage our established European service base and outperform a rapidly growing industry. A growing market share and penetration will lead to further improvements in our range of services and drive down transaction costs. Thanks to our established European network, we have the expertise, employees and systems required to roll out a full global transaction service, allowing you to benefit from rapid, accurate and reliable payment services.
